This course provides students with a professional foundation of the practical application of managerial skills required of first and second-line supervisors in higher education. Course topics devote special attention to the mission and challenges of HE organizations, organization structures and environments, responsibilities and expectations of managers, financial management, budget development and oversight, time and resource management, process improvement, the role of technology, decision making, and communication strategy. In addition, the course considers the role of supervisors in fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion across functional and institutional contexts.
