How to Create Accessible Word and PowerPoint Files
Workshop Description:
This Accessible Word and PowerPoint workshop will provide practical skills for improving the accessibility of your Microsoft documents focusing on Word and PowerPoint. You will have opportunities to ask and discuss your questions in this workshop. The workshop will cover the following best practices:
- Sufficient color contrast and color use
- Meaningful text for any links
- Chronological, nested heading structure
- Appropriate use of built-in list styles
- Alternative text for images, graphs, or charts
- Data table headers identified
- Logical reading order
Workshop Objectives:
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Understand the ethical and legal need for accessible documents
- Identify accessibility issues within documents
- Apply the best practices above to their own files
- Utilize the Microsoft accessibility checker
- Incorporate accessibility as an integral step in content creation
